FOS 2008
Our Pack will be celebrating our Blue & Gold Banquet on Saturday, March 15, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Lake Junior High School in Woodbury. We will also be making our annual fund raising appeal to the families who participate in the Scouting program.
The Northern Star Council serves 110,000 Scouts each year. The Council’s mission statement for those 110,000 Scouts is to help them reach their full potential, serve others, develop leadership skills and learn how to make ethical choices. The Council estimates it costs $150 per year per Scout to accomplish that mission. The camping fees, annual dues, product sales, grants from the United Way, and income on investments only covers 77% of that $150 annual cost. The rest of Scouting is paid for through the Friends of Scouting (FOS) fundraising campaign.
A few of the benefits inlcude:
The best camps, activities and programs in the country
Professional guidance and support that mobilizes several hundred volunteers in our immediate area who work with children from our community
Free training for all adult leaders
Free supplemental accident insurance for all registered youth and adults
Free primary liability insurance for all registered volunteers
If you value the Scouting program and are financially able please show your appreciation by making a contribution at the Blue & Gold Banquet. Thank you and we look forward to seeing everybody on Saturday.
